What are the hours of operation?
Kidscool is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm except for statuary holidays Including Boxing Day, and Easter Monday. Also, Kidscool will be closed from Dec 23rd at 12:00 to January 1st for Winter Holidays. All fees are for one month of childcare service and are fixed regardless of the number of stat holidays and emergency closures such as extreme weather. The rates are subject to change annually every August with prior notice.
What ages of children do you accept?
At Kidscool we accept children from age six months old up to 5 years- old
What is the staff-to-child ratio?
Kidscool maintains a staff-to-child ratio that meets licensing requirements. For infants and toddlers, the ratio is 1:4 and age 3 to 5 group, 1:8.
What qualifications and training do the staff members have?
Our teachers and staff have a passion for working with children and hold relevant qualifications in early childhood education. They possess degrees or certifications in infant – toddler and early childhood education and have undergone training in CPR and first aid.
What is the curriculum or educational approach followed?
Community Awareness, Science / Nature Explorations Social Skills, Writing Skills, Self Help Skills, Language Development, Physical Skills Field Trip, Pre-reading/Reading, Creative Arts, Math / Numbers. At Kidscool We follow a play-based curriculum that emphasizes hands-on learning, social interaction, and individual development. Our approach focuses on fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.
Are meals and snacks provided?
6. We provide nutritious snacks that meet dietary guidelines. Our center has policies and procedures in place to handle dietary restrictions and allergies. We work closely with parents to ensure that individual needs are accommodated. To provide the best possible nutrition environment for the children in our facility, Kidscool has developed the following childcare nutrition policies to encourage the development of good eating habits that will last a lifetime. Kidscool follows the Canada Food Guide for all the food we serve. To provide a healthy and balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and limits foods and beverages that are high in sugar, fat, and our nutrition policy includes the following: Fruits and Vegetables. We serve at least 2 times a day. Grains We serve whole grain foods at least once a day. Beverages We limit juice, when served, the juice is 100% fruit juice.
How does the center handle discipline and behavior management?
We have a positive behaviour management approach that promotes respect, empathy, and problem-solving. Our teachers use redirection, positive reinforcement, and clear communication to guide children's behaviour in a supportive and nurturing environment.
What is the procedure for drop-off and pick-up?
For drop-off and pick-up, we have designated areas, and the staff sign in and out your Child/children. Authorized individuals are required to provide identification to ensure the safety and security of the children and your child’s teacher, or administrator may call you to confirm his/her identity.
Is there a security system in place to ensure the safety of the children?
Our center has a comprehensive security system in place around the building, surveillance cameras in common areas, and trained staff members monitoring the premises to ensure the safety and well-being of the children.
How does the center handle emergencies or accidents?
We have well-defined protocols for handling emergencies and accidents. Our staff members are trained in first aid and follow procedures that include promptly contacting parents, administering first aid, and seeking medical assistance when necessary.
What is the policy for administering medication if needed?
We have strict guidelines and procedures for administering medication. Parents are required to provide written consent and detailed instructions, and all medication is securely stored and administered by trained staff members following proper protocols.
Are there opportunities for outdoor play and physical activities?
We prioritize outdoor play and physical activities. Our center has a spacious outdoor playground where children can engage in active play, and we incorporate structured physical activities into our daily schedule to promote gross motor development.
How does the center communicate with parents?
We believe in open and regular communication with parents. We provide daily updates through digital platforms, have regular parent-teacher conversations, and offer newsletters to keep parents informed about their child's progress, daily activities, and upcoming events.
What is the tuition or fee structure?
Our tuition rates are based on the age group and program selected. We provide detailed information on our fee structure, including any additional costs or fees for specialized programs or extracurricular activities during the tour we set to meet you. All families can also apply for Affordable Child Care Benefit which is a monthly payment by the BC Ministry of Children and Family to help eligible families with the cost of child care. Factors like income, family size, and type of care determine how much support families can get. Families need to renew their applications every year.
